CLASS: All About Bees
In this class, we will take a deep dive into bee biology, anatomy, ecology, and the inner workings of a hive. Starting with the simple question, “What is a bee?,” we will journey through the evolution of these magnificent little creatures, discussing the many native bees and other pollinators in our region, and then zeroing in on the European Honeybee species we know and love. We’ll cover the life cycles and specific duties of each member of the honeybee colony, and learn how they all work together to make the hive superorganism thrive!
This class is included in our Beginner Beekeeping Courses bundle, which we recommend in full for anyone interested in becoming a beekeeper. If you purchase the whole bundle, you’ll get free access to a Hands-on in the Hive class where you can put your practical knowledge to use in our educational apiary!
All About Bees is also a great standalone class for those interested in honeybees and their impact on the environment who are less enthusiastic about the idea of keeping bees themselves!
This class is 2 hours long and held in-person at our storefront on Merrimon Avenue in Weaverville, NC. Please bring materials to take notes.
If you're purchasing this class as a gift, please select the Gift Option. We'll reach out to send you a certificate that the recipient can redeem for any future Beginner Beekeeping class!
